Russia’s NGOs under pressure

Russia amended its legislation on non-governmental or non-commercial organisations again at the end of 2005. The law affects Russian NGOs and representative offices of foreign NGOs, foundations or non-profit associations.
Even though the amendment has been weakened in some points between the first and third reading in the Duma, the law is seen as an instrument to tighten control over NGO activities.
